Colder plug tech and IAT, engine temp, etc.
What would be the drawback? Fouling? That hokey Autospeed article that people keep quoting got me thinking and if it would be of benefit on the S2. Since the S2 is so high-strung and the ECU backing timing out so early with warm intake air, it would only stand to reason that the car detonates easily.
Would colder plugs help this? Does anyone know if the ECU backs out timing as a function of intake air temps, or if it is a function of the knock sensor sensing knock at warmer temps?
Who was it that used a scan tool to find that the ECU started backing timing out at ~75
