Default Collecting some turbo data

I hope this thread won't turn into a turbo Vs SC thread like so many others. I just like to collect some data on the turbo used in the s2k so far. There are so many turbo owner on this forum. Most are fairly knowledgable about boost It would be much appreciated if you could share some info about your turbo system; specifically on:

1. type of turbo
2. type of gate: internal/external, size and brand, strength of spring
3. at what rpm does boost kick in
4. what rpm is max boost achieved

How do you like your set up and what turbo do you think will make it better and why?

1.) Garrett GT30R (GT3037) - similar to HKS 3037
2.) Tial 38mm external wastegate - 3.5 psi spring...
3.) 2500 rpm
4.) 3500 rpm

I love the setup, but I wish I had a tubular manifold rather than a log manifold. It's VERY nice at low and mid rpm, but I keep feeling that I'm missing something up high after the VTEC comes on. It may just be a tuning issue though.

Inline Pro Turbo (Red Lines) vs. Vortech SC (Blue/Black)
I'm pretty sure this was at their base 7 or 8psi

timq, could you explain why you use the small waste gate? Isn't larger wastegate generally better for low boost application?

Thank you for starting this post Honda9krpm

I am looking into adding a turbo to my car. it's stock accept for the exhaust(JIC single outlet with Spoon test pipe and wide ban o2 sensor) and a VAFCll that has not bin tuned yet. Can you add a turbo and run 6lbs of boost on the OEM fule system and ECU? If so is 6lbs safe?

Any amount of boost will already be pushing the stock injectors close to maximum work. It would be safer doing it right the first time and switching out to larger injectors and take out the VAFC and replace it with at least a Greddy Emanage.

6 psi will be fairly safe if you take the necessary precautions and tune it correctly.

Check out www.ultimate-racing.com and check out their turbo kit. This is what I am going with.

Also you can see www.inlinepro.com and look at their kit. Both are fairly popular and have done their own research into making a reliable kit. But inlinepro uses the VAFC to tune, which isn't close to being the best method. It'll run, but how well I am not sure.

That's the theory. 38mm worked just fine on my Monte Carlo(also a low boost application). I have ZERO boost creep on the S2000. The biggest reason was that the manifold already had a 38mm wastegate flange welded on.

i have the inlinepro kit sitting in my living room(need an exhaust)

things i do not like about inlinepros kit is that you still need to make brackets for the i/c and they do not give you an instruction manual(they assume you know what your doing 100% and that you have a shop).
every other company i buy parts from even for my viper supplies a really good "how to" for everything.

now i got a head ache from hell trying to figure out how everything goes. even orderd a helms manual and had it shipped overnite to help me out.

hope the end result is worth it.
