Default Cometic 2mm Headgasket

I wanted to see what the opinion on a 2mm (0.074") Cometic stainless steel headgasket is for lowering compression on a turbo car. It should lower compression about a point (to roughly 10:1) and cost $126. Best guess is that safe boost with one of these would be in the 12-15 pound range based on what Inline Pro is running with a 3mm gasket and what the average turbo/sc guys run on a stock motor. Any comments or experience with this?

I would like to ask in addition to timg question. What makes a thicker gasket less durable.
I know they lower compression but what does it affect in the combustion chamber?
Squish or something like that is affected. Is a thicker gasket acceptable for tracking the car.
Good topic timg

I have been speaking to a guy called John @ Darton for a while on their MID kit for the F20C to see when it would be ready, when discussing that I asked about the Cometic gaskets as they are a distributor and was told they only offer the S2000 gasket in a stock thickness!!!
I would be interested in one of these @ $126, where can i buy it from?

I also spoke to inline pro who said the 3mm gasket was in the region of $260 has anyone else got one of these yet?

Cometic can custom make a gasket. All you got to do is tell them how thick you want it. I think fperra has/had this gasket.

For Cometic's website click Here

It's a good topic and I'm looking forward to the responses.

Damn, Inline Pro quoted me $399 for their 3mm gasket. I called Cometic directly and asked for a 3 mm gasket. They told me that didn't have one that big for a S2000, but they did have a 2mm (0.074") that would lower compression about a point. I ordered directly from them. Final shipped charge was about $135.

cometic makes good gaskets. $135 shipped is a damn good price compared to the 3mm gasket by inline pro.

Just got an e-mail back from Cometic and this is how it read:
[QUOTE]Andrew,
In order to get your compression down that much you would need a
head gasket that is approximately .160" thick.
