Compression Check
hey guys iv searched around but cant really find exact how-to on doing this. i went to sears a little while ago and saw something on checking compression but how can i be sure is the correct thing???
Anyway can someone tell me exactly how to run a compression check because i have no idea what im doing lol thanks guys!

here's some non-s2000 specific info that you might find helpful:

The test is relatively easy to do even if you are not particularly mechanically inclined, but as usual, be sure you know what you're doing before you dive in.

Take out ALL the plugs. You dont want any compression resistance. The engine needs to be able to spin over freely with no restrictions. Then screw in the compression tester. get in the car and hold the throttle wide open. Turn the engine over several times ( i usually do it until the needle in the gauge stops moving, indicating highest compresion) and then write down the number you get. Most compression gauges have a check valve, so dont forget to clear the gauge before moving to your next cylinder. Repeat this process for every cylinder. It would be best to defeat the fuel pump so fuel does not spray into the cylinder as you are turning the engine over. The best way to do this would be to locate the fuel pump relay and remove it temporarily. Hope this helps
the numbers that you will get that will be optimal will be the "wet test" where the car is warmed up and you put a little bit of oil around the tester o-ring to get a tighter seal. try it both ways.
