Default Compression test on my s2k

i just did a compression test on my 02 with 60,000 miles. the numbers are the following:

1- 190

2-185

3-188

4-190

2 months ago my compression used to be 190 in all the cyl. also i took a flashlight and saw that my piston was black. it looked like carbon built.

same gauge?

same number of cranks?

did you remove all the spark plugs this time?

did you hold wot this time?

the black stuff is carbon deposite, normal for engine with more miles.

same gauge ,same everything. whati noticed is that when i used to have castrol full sysnthetic ii used to notice blue smoke coming from my exhaust (sometimes) not always. now thati switched to synthetic mobil 1 i don't see smoke anymore, also i do't know why would my compression go down 5 psi and 3 psi in a month.

In all reality, that is barely if at all statistically significant. Try again in a month controlling as many variables as possible. If you see the #2 cylinder down 5psi+ again, then it probably means something.

Even just ambient temperatures can throw things off. You should test the engine warm, so depending on how warm it was compared to last time, the ambient temps outside which correlate with the cooling down of your engine, etc., it may be nothing.

What do you guys think about the engine restorer stuff. My compression was in that range too. I wonder if that stuff really works or not?

could be alot of thing, the combustion can be increase very slightly by carbon built up alone, that's why alot of honda motor seems to be strong with some miles on the odo.

the blue smoke is a indication of motor oil being combusted/burnt, check the viscosity index difference between the two. most people think m1 is very thin, but it's not. i posted abunch of VI number couple months back, not sure i can find it right now.

Engine restore is sometimes a solution, but not a premanent one if there is serious damage. It has tiny metal particles that are supposed to line the cylinder walls.

I doubt that it would do anything with an S2K due to the unique cylinder linings. It might help the rings, but wont to anything to the valves and could possibly do damage to other parts like the oil squirters.

Leakdown can drop from only 2 places... your rings or your valves (not seals). Compression tests can show problems from other areas, but a leakdown test is an easy to determine if your rings or valves (bent valves, worn seats, guides) are the problem.

As far as mine is concerned I don't have any issues in the way the car drives and performs. I just thought my numbers are a bit low due to the mileage of an 01 at 71,300. I was just curious as to whether the stuff works or not.

I remember we did approximately 9 cranks with the plugs removed at WOT. The battery was hooked up to a charger.

If the restore has a chance of damaging anything I wouldn't touch the stuff.
