Default Comptech Ice Box Intake

I have a MY00 S2k. I just got the Comptech Intake for it and installed yesterday. The hood prop has no where to go. Has anyone had any clearance issues with it. I shaved it like the instructions said but the slit in the box looks like it is off by an inch or so. So the hood prop does not go into it leading to not allow the hood to close. For the time being I just took the hood prop out. Anyone have similar issues? Anyone have any insight on it.

On another note I got the check engine light today. Kind of weird as all day yesterday after the install I never got one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Kramer

Check the electrical connector to the vacuum solenoid that you repositioned. I left mine unplugged, and the wires rubbed against the alternator belt until they grounded and threw a CEL -- it also blew one of the fuses in the under-dash panel.

As for clearance, mine fits, but I have to bow the hood prop a tiny bit before pushing it into the lid. My lid looks like it is about 1/2 too far tword the rear of the car. I've spent a while working on the position, but any further forward, and the lid will vibrate against the radiator support.

Thanks for the input. I will check into the plug and wiring. I looked under the hood this morning and did not see anything obvious. I tried bowing the hood prop like you said and I could never bow it any at all. Hmmm. Thanks for your help.

disconnect your battery for a lil bit, then connect it again. This will make your light go away. if it comes back on again. check your hoses. as for the hood prop. all the comptechs have a problem with it. people told me to cut/widen the slot. but what i did was just bought Tein Hood(bonnet) Dampers. It looks awesome and i eliminates the need for a hood prop

Don't disconnect your battey. Fix the problem first, then pull the 7.5amp back-up fuse for 10 seconds and put it back in.

95% of all iceboxes require bowing the rod slightly.

I had no problem with my hood prop fitting once I dremeled it down. It took me about 20 mins of grind and try, but it fits like a charm with no bowing/bending of the rod. As for the CEL, you probably incorrectly connected one of the vaccuum hoses during the install. Comptech's instructions aren't that great to start (and this stuff is made in the USA!), so double check all the connections. Good luck with your diagnosis!

Thanks for all your replies! As for the connections of the hoses, they are as per instructions. Just really weird how it did not trigger the CEL initially, but a day later. I am looking into the hood shocks. Seems like a great idea. As for now the hood prop is in the trunk!!!

I will try the fuse idea in the morning and let you know how it goes. I really appreciate the help guys!!

It doesn't turn on the CEL imediately because the engine has to be cold for the air pump to run. Even then it will take 2 back to back failures before turning the light on.

Recheck all the plugs. Like go through the directions and count all the electrical connectors you had to disconnect/reconnect. It took me two days fiddling with vacum hoses knowing I did it right to find that I had missed a electrical connector I disconnected. I forgot the one on the air control solenoid valve.

I never unplugged and of the electrical connectors. I was able to do everything without that. I did go back and check just to make sure and they were all connected. Just like all the hoses. They are correct. The only thing I have in question now is that white air control check valve...if it is directional. Meaning it has to face a certain direction in the line. I will go over it again in the morning again. Thanks!!!
