Default Comptech Intake Fittament issues---!

Ok..Im having some issues with the comptech intake, where the filter connects to the tubing, it is not secure. I have taken it off 10 times and adjusted the metal bracket that tightens over the filter, but it will not stay, it continually slips off, meaning that the tubing becomes disconnected from the filter = . The car is at the bodyshop now so i cant take pics till it gets back. I am curious to know if i am missing one of the rubber pieces that fits over this part, or if something is wrong with the intake/install?

I'll try to get pics when the car gets back from the body shop, until then anyones' input would be great--this is bugging me.!!

did you try extending all the tubes to their maximum length and clamping them tightly?

no, im talking about the intake/ no SC. i guess only the supercharges have it on the outside. Yes and there were more than a couple explatives at the time. The little piece that fits into the bottom and holds the filter in place got pushed thru the bottom.....TWICE, and i had to hunt down the piece both times (after removing the whole box twice....) But yea, I took it out to lube up the filter and ended up with more of it on my hand.. Its really hard to tighten that hose clamp onto the filter, b/c the oil keeps making it slip off. When i would tighten it, was either too tight (and slipped off) or not tight enough...
grrr!

I know what you mean - I was lucky in the sense that the filter holder you were referring to never got pushed out during my install. I can only imagine how frustrating that was! I just fiddled with the intake hose and the filter until they aligned correctly. I think the fact that I used a socket driver instead of a screwdriver to tighten the clamp helped a bit...

I am not sure if it is the same as the SC air filter but I was having the same problem on my SC air filter. It kept slipping of because i was over tightening the clamp. It does not have to be super tight.

comptech really should have included another rubber piece right there, it would have given some grip or what not to keep the filter/tubing out. .. and in response to my last post maybe the crash knocked it out again.

i have the comptech and it fits great, i dont know how you are having problems, are you mounting the box right? wait til you get it on, it rubs on the hood, pain in the ass, but comptech recalled the old box style and now has a smaller low profile one i ordered, they take a $99 deposit, send you the box, then when they get your old one back you get the $99 back as well.
