Default Comptech Intake noises

I searched for Comptech rattle, comptech vibrations, comptech buzzing, CAI buzzing/rattling/vibrations.... Got nothing but endless comptech threads with nothing to do with the noises.

I just installed it last night, and the buzzing drives me crazy. Anyway to tone it down, or a fix?

Mine didn't buzz, but one of the three machine screws that hold down the cover came off. That could cause a buzz. I added a star washers under each machine screws. Check those and the mounting screws. I can't think of anything else that would rattle on the CAI unit. Also check to see if the ends of the hose clamps are close to anything it might touch.

Could be. Try putting duct tape along the edge of the slot. If the noise goes away, then it's the prop rattling against the cover.

The cover rubs against the car body around the prop rod holder, the paint wore off in 2 spots

I dremeled the cover a bit and put a little stick on cushion on the same rod holder.

Now now buzzing at all.

I've experienced the buzz and many things mentioned here caused it. The loose screw- blue locktite (easy to unscrew ... but won't vibrate loose); lid flap - different gasket material; hood prop - modify the prop head (plastic bit) until it fits without rubbing or touching and used silicone hose around prop arm to prevent vibration in the lid gap.

Hate to bring this thread from the WAY dead but just picked up a used comptech intake and put it on the 00 last night. The car no longer has a hood prop (switched to hood struts) so that's not the issue but it's still rattling big time and sounds like crap. I tried to zip tie the box to the side frame of the fender but it's still rattling. Seems like some pretty crappy engineering for a 300 dollar intake.

Any other ideas on what could be done before I take it off and sell it?

However, today in my parking garage at work, one the attendants asked me if my car was running okay b/c "your engine sounds like a truck"
