Default Comptech S/C question

It seems like most of the performance parts for the S are over priced, except for the supercharger. Comptech states that their superchargers are made for factory s2000 engines. I have a hard time believing this being the s2000 engine has an 11.1 to 1 compression ratio. I see a lot of people putting superchargers on factory engine and I've never heard any complaints about them. I guess my question is if I put a supercharger on my factory engine, will it blow up the first time I hit the gas?

The answer to your question is: No.

Use the search function you want some fundamental answers to SC'ing that you will find.

Does the compression need to be lowered before putting a s/c?

Absolutely. Everyone that has installed one of these has exploded their engines the second they hit the gas.

You wonder if the engine blows the first time you hit the gas but you haven't seen any posts of problems.

You seem to have answered your own question.

It seems you have answered your own question.

My understanding is that the Comptech SG is basically Plug and Play. Vortech requires a little more tweaking, but nothing a competent mechanic can't handle.

No need to lower compression by altering head/pistons

*Comptech has sold hundreds of these kits to S2000 owners. That being the case, don't you believe them?

**You not believing this is "your" perception of things, not what history has proven. It is this perception and the reluctance to believe anything else that is the reason you posted up something that could have easily been proven otherwise with a little search and deductive reasoning.

***If a lot of people have put this on their cars and they blew it up with the first press of the gas pedal, do you not think you would have heard something by now and do you not think that only a few would have ever been sold?

I'm sorry, but your original post would indicate irrational thinking and thus, it is not surprising that you've gotten some "unhelpful" information.

I also believe that you posted in hopes that the people here will convince you that this kit is perfectly safe. Noone is going to be that foolish to make such a claim. If you put this on your car, not knowing the circumstances surrounding your car or you or the way you mod and drive your car, then go out and blow it up on the first press of the gas pedal, we're not going to take the fall for it. For all we know, you could have a car that has bad rings, bad valves, an abused tranny and diff and then go out and run the thing at 8500 rpm for 60 minutes straight in 2nd gear. (Irrational thinking can lead to irrational actions.)
