Don't take my comments personally.

BTW, it's not straight water in the aftercoolers. It's water/antifreeze or water/water wetter mix. The P increases as the temp rises in the aftercooler setup. There are a lot of ways to get the water/air to work more efficiently. Also for solo 2 people just adding a bunch of ice to the aftercooler can make a HUGE difference. In solo 1 maybe each heat refilling the thing with more ice.

The 450rwhp was more than likely on race gas. You can gain a whole lot of power just by switching to 116 octane compared to 93 since you're given a lot more timing to play with. It's like apples to oranges.
Having tracked a car heavily with an air to water intercooler (Supercharged M3) I know how poorly they worked. Even with a 2 gallon reservoir, the ice was gone after 5 laps at thunderhill. Not gonna work well for a tracked car.

all in all, there are WAYYYY too many factors out there. It can be debated with new issues brought up over and over and never be resolved because you really just cant.

My standing point is that it's not worth the money. The pressure drop from the FMIC (how much of a drop depends on the size and design) will neglect the gains to be had in better timing because of the cooler charged air temps -- IMO.

also, the comptech a/w intercooler is about $995, Spugen has an FMIC for $200 less. That's the other reason... I'm cheap.

i have an air to air intercooler (because the aftercooler wasn't out yet) and I went from 267hp stock SC, to 255hp with a 4" pulley upgrade. The aftercooler is on the way and I can't wait to throw the intercooler in the garbage.
