I stand corrected as far as ease of installation - I didn't realize the ppl with the speedcraft kit installed lived in Florida near Speedcraft.

As for CARB certification:
This MUST be done if this kit is to be used legally in cali. Of course it better pass smog stuff or it won't be CARB certified. From talking to comptech, the CARB process involves a number of tests/measurements and costs about $10K (at least for SC kit); these tests are the responsibility of the party applying for the certification, so there may actually be additional cost if a shop is not already set up to do these tests.

forgot to mention - I'm not sure if comptech has a receptionist. Seems like every time I call, Mike B. the general manager answers. I think whoever is closest to the phone answers when it rings

Okay... I'm breathing now but I was already calm.

As for installation... I believe Speedcraft charges about $600.00 for the install. For those of you considering the turbo... if it's feasible, then I would highly suggest letting Speedcraft do the install. Not to say that someone else couldn't do it but wouldn't you rather have the guy that fabricated the kit and has done the isnstall before do it?

Looks like he's referring to the turbo car list discussion.

Just kind've curious on the subject, but shouldn't the supercharger have more torque on the low end ? By design it gives you linear boost across the rev range and from being belt driven it should act just like a larger S2000 engine. So if a turbo engages at 3500 RPM (does that seem kind've low for it to engage, does it run out of huff at the higher end ?) wouldn't the SC be more powerful on the low end ? I have always heard that turbos give you much better higher end, but suffer on the lower end. Also how is it that these cars would not have the same differential problems as the SC S2000 ? I would figure it would be worse with the sudden onset of boost/hp vs. the linear onset of hp from a SC. I am a novice at these setup but I know the concept of a SC vs. Turbo and I would figure these problems have to do with the car as a whole, not the boost setup.

I don't know alot about superchargers but from what I've gathered from previous discussions, the Comptech Supercharger isn't the 'norm'. It doesn't produce any significant power until VTEC which is around 6000 RPM's. The turbo (once tuned) is EXTREMELY linear in it's power delivery... almost feels like a NA car. The turbo set up that this discussion is referring to is produced by Speedcraft and they are using a 60-1 ball bearing turbo which will support over 500 hp... so no... it doesn't run out of steam anywhere.

Fanman, not all superchargers are created equal. The Comptech charger is a centerfugal type where the boost is always based on the RPM. The kind of super you are referring to is called a roots type blower. There are no roots type blowers available for the S2000 yet, however apparently MG Racing has one fabricated and running on one car.

Theoretically you could get even better low end results from a roots type blower than from a turbo, however a roots type does not have very good top end.

Basically a really high quality turbo (Turbonetics T60) will give you the best of both worlds (at a cost.)

Check out that article that I wrote up at my swank ass website..

I wonder how much the intercooler for the Comptech/Paxton will help it. Heard it is coming out soon. I went back to an issue of Sports Compact Car, the one with the dyno of the regular & Comptech S2000 and real HP difference did not come in until 3500 RPM. The same with the Speedcraft Turbo. Also read in a magazine that Vortec had a S2000 at the SEMA show. They usually make good products. What is the fastest a turbo S2000 has run I hear 12.5 but getting lower
