Default Confirming parts required for clutch replacement. Where to source ACT HD PP?

Hey All,

The time has come to replace my clutch. If I start moving in gear before fully letting off the clutch, and then press the clutch back down (stop and go traffic or a drive through for example), the car stutters, seemingly like it might stall (never has). When I bought it two summers ago, my mechanic told me I’d need to replace it at some point. I got two summers out of it, but it’s finally time to just spend the money lol.

I looked on Majestic Honda, and it recommended these parts:

22200-PCX-055 DISK, FRICTION $123.31
90011-PCX-B01 BOLT (12MM) $3.51
90034-689-000 BOLT, TWELVE POINT (8MM) (TOKAI TRW) $4.52
90429-PCX-000 WASHER (38X88X2) $10.06
91006-PCX-008 BEARING, CLUTCH PILOT $15.33
22100-PCX-005 FLYWHEEL $278.83
22300-PCX-015 DISK, PRESSURE $250.04

The one thing I didn’t see mentioned was the release bearing, anyone know if that’s included with 91006-PCX-008 BEARING, CLUTCH PILOT, or is it a different part that Majestic Honda didn’t list when I selected my specific car, and clutch?

I’m leaning towards the ACT HD Pressure Plate, to give me the flexibility of supercharging it down the road. I saw pricing around $370 last summer. Any recommendations of where to look for this part?

Is there a better place than Majestic Honda price wise? The weak Canadian dollar, plus shipping is going to make this a pretty painful ordeal.

Thanks everyone!

I bought by ACT HD PP from Moddiction. He seems to have the lowest prices period. You can find his thread here: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/110...free-shipping/

I would skip the washers/bolts if you have the right tools. At most buy a couple in case one strips.

I just did mine. I priced them out pretty accurately in the thread below. Just scroll down on the first page. Agree with soviet, skip the bolts and washers. Some other stuff I ended up grabbing was oem honda high temp grease ($13) and a act alignment tool ($7). https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/114...s-need-advice/

Yep. I thought I had it all. I was putting everything back together then realized I needed these. A helms/ service manual helps alot too. Torque specs and where to grease. Grab one on ebay used for about $60.

I wouldn't replace your clutch just yet if I were you. You have clutch chatter which is different from a worn clutch.

It's usually caused by a glazed surface on the flywheel and/or pressure plate. Hard launches can cause this. I was able to get rid of this problem with a Corolla years ago by doing this:

When starting from a complete stop, feather the clutch by slowly engaging the clutch at RPMs above 3500. If you get chatter, raise your RPMa even more and engage the clutch even slower. Keep doing this each time you launch. Eventually the glaze might go away.

There are other causes for clutch chatter or the glaze could be very heavy, so it may not work but it's worth a try. Keep I mind that the more you launch with that chatter the worse it gets. That's because it actually wears down some sections of the plate surfaces while deposited friction material from the clutch plate stays in place.

My car had ACT in it. Buzzed like crazy. Billman put all oem stuff in and it's 100x better. Just sayin. If you're not boosted, you might prefer oem.

The ACT HD PP is what Billman runs and what he actually suggests. You might be referring to an ACT friction disc. The friction disc is what causes clutch buzz.
