Default Considering new suspension

I was considering the Koni yellows w/ Eibach lowering springs. I mainly am keeping the car stock , but I would like a little upgrade in the handling. Opinions wanted

I haven't tried the Koni yellows, but from what I've read here on S2kI, they work well on both the street and track. I think the front yellows have less compression damping, and I'm not sure how that might work out with the Eibach Pro Kit springs. On my car, with the extra weight of the SC/AC up front, I think I need all the compresison damping of the OEM front shocks (but again, I haven't actually tried the Koni's so that's just my best guess).

If you were one of my customers I'd try to find someone who had actually used the shock and spring combination to querry before I advised you to use the two together, and maybe, if we're lucky, somebody who *is* running the combo can respond to your question better than I can.

Koni yellows work well under stock springs.
Pro Kit works well over stock shocks.

That's all I can say with any certainty.

I'd go one way or the other, but not both. The shocks will improve the handling (or at least change it) and the springs won't (at least not enough to matter to anyone who isn't a better and more sensitive driver than any of the guys at the Solo Nationals ). Pro Kit *might* keep the back end under an early AP1 a little better, but I'm not certain. That's what our chief mechanic thought after putting the kit on my car, and it seemed that way to me too, but such things can be due to a placebo effect, and it's not a difference we could measure in any way. Go with shocks for a handling improvement, springs to get a lower stance.

Since you're not going to be fine tuning the handling a fully adjustable coil-over setup would probably be overkill.

We put the whole Tein setup on Cindy Cook's S15 Silvia, and it looks wonderful, but I haven't driven the car yet. It's a lot to spend on suspension that isn't going to be tuned carefully to suit different tracks and driving conditions. At least that's the way I see it ... My two cents worth.

I know a some of the guys are running the yellows. Maybe you could find more information using the search function, or by starting a thread with "Koni Yellows?" as a title.

You may be a community organizer, but that's some of the worst advice imaginabe.

Maybe if you've tried it one your own S2000 you could tell us how well it worked out?
