The top on my '00 is fine; the rear window has some scratches and creases, but it's still clear.

my '05 top is fine too. plastic is as clear as the day i bought it. i use vinyl top care and a plastic spray for the window. i also keep it garaged and covered at work. still, with 31,000 on it and the so. cal. sun, i pleased with the workmanship and quality of material. i think it's a crapshoot whether you get the tear or not. burring and bending of metal frame during assembly seems to be the determing factor, but babying the top can't hurt.

If you apply Teflon tape to the bar that touches your top, there won't be any friction between the top and the bar so it will last a lot longer without tearing.

mine was replaced under warranty at 26k miles. I have 39k miles now and I can hear my TCT about to go soon. some say Mobil1 is the culprit.

How is the TCT even remotely connected to the convertible top (outside of it being a part of the car)?
