Default Convertible top does not close properly

Before when i used to close down my top it used to go down to the windsheild and all i need to do is close the latches ...... but now whenever i close my top it comes down to about an inch away from its place at the windshield and have to pull it down so it sits in place before closing the latches. I think this happened after once i had my top up and forgot to close the latches and noticed after i drove at a speed of around 20 -40km\h and the top kind of moved from its place .... what should i do or replace to resolve this???

I doubt that forgetting to latch it once caused this, but I suppose it's possible. I'd look for an obstruction to the mechanism somewhere.

Alternately, one of the folding arms might have gotten bent slightly -- does the top look "normal" (smooth and flat, unwrinkled) when you pull it closed? If it's a bent arm, nothing you can do but get used to it.

Finally, if you haven't already, get the hardtop strikers and install them.

My top has always been a bit "wishy washy" in how close to the windshield it comes. Sometimes, it'll almost touch the windshield, while other times, it'll be an inch or so and I have to pull on it to latch it. It's been like that from day one and the car is 4.5 years old. It's not a problem and I've never worried about it. It seals perfectly all the time. I don't see this as anything to get too concerned about. Now, if it were to stay several inches from the windshield, then it would be something that would need dealing with.

mine does this every time, it requres slight pulling down do be able to latch. IE it rests against the windshield but doesnt fall into final locking position unless helped.

I would think that the roof tension adjust would help this, but i have never been able to find it.

adjust the tensioners. if you look where the rubber of the window frame meets the back top corners of the doors, there is a rubber foot on a screw stud. there is a nut on the stud. retract the roof a few inches from fully closed, then loosen the nuts, turn the rubber foot by hand a turn or 2, lock down the nut, then open and close your top and see if it makes it easier or harder to latch.
