Hey all! I have a small coolant leak that's slowly dripping from the passenger side of the engine cylinder 4 area. The leak is static whether the engine is hot or cold sitting or driving. I don't have any blown head gasket symptoms which leads me to believe it's the intake manifold gasket that's leaking. Due to the location, I can't see where the leak is exactly coming from since it's behind the engine/firewall area. This leads me to believe my s2k probably has an aftermarket intake manifold gasket.
Since I don't have experience with this exact issue, can someone confirm that this gasket is aftermarket? It looks a bit thick for it to be an OEM gasket. I'm hoping that this is the cause of the coolant leak that trickles around the back of the engine and eventually drips on the passenger side cylinder 4 area.
You have a phenolic-plastic intake manifold gasket, they are notorious for leaking. Easy thing is to re-torque the manifold as the bolts loosen up due to the gasket material. If it was my car I'd replace it with oem and be done with it. People use those gaskets to reduce heat transfer from the head to the manifold, but they introduce issues like this.
