Default Coolant temp range...

Hello all,

Just curious if 206 F is the normal temp for the fan to kick on on an 01 S? My scanguage shows that the temp fluctuates between 188 degress and 195 degrees regularly, and climbs to 206 at still idle for extended periods before the fan comes on...

Normal?

That is fine.. My 02 fans come on I believe at 204f. Most cars operate at idle over 200f as long as your at 3 bars max your fine.

Understand that the scan tool (and ECU) are reading the temperature from the ECT sensor at the back of the intake manifold. The fans are controlled by a separate switch mounted in the bottom of the radiator. It's pretty much guaranteed that the coolant in the intake manifold is hotter than what's at the bottom of the radiator.

My 00ap1 fans come on at 206f. Readout via Autometer water temp gauge, with the sensor in my upper radiator hose.
