Crackling noise from air pump

When the car turns on, air pump turns on, and instead of the high pitched noise, i've been getting a crackling noise as well, and it also stays on even when the car is warmed up fully. No CEL's for a faulty air pump. Could it be the relay? Or do I need to replace the air pump? Thoughts?

Sounds like your air pump relay is stuck "closed". Constant running of the pump will overheat and eventually destroy the pump.
