[QUOTE=Wisconsin S2k,May 13 2005, 09:33 AM] and since S2000's are hand built, and they only make maybe 9000 a year, S2000 "crate" or "create" engines or whatever, are not available.

Although I dont know the technical definition of a "crate engine", i know for a fact that you can buy s2000 engines new, from dealerships.

10002-PZX-A00 001 ENGINE ASSY., BLOCK $2820.23
10003-PZX-A00 002 GENERAL ASSY., CYLINDER HEAD $2699.89
20011-PCY-A00 003 TRANSMISSION ASSY. (6-SPEED) $3515.42

As far as building this kit car, I hope you know what your getting into. Adapting ccw to cw may seem like simple gearing trick, but to make a reliable car which is safe you need to do some serious fabrication. Also I think civic tranny would prolly shatter with an s2k engine bolted to it.

Maybe its just me, but from what im reading, i dont think its wise to attempt this project unless you have a lot of money and people to work for you.
yeah you can get the engine assemblies (block/head) and tranny. I think that's different than a crate engine, which is a completely operating engine put together. at least that's my understanding of it. lol

Tizbad2k , Incubus, Thanks for the info, but I am not reinventing the wheel here, what I mean to say is, it is a kit car, its all bolt in. They claim it uses a vtec, and from what I can tell it looks spun 180 deg (top view) but that would give you 5 gears going in reverse. They have already figured it out. I am trying to figure out what the heck they did. I am not a tuner or Honda engine guy at all. So I don

Interesting... I didn't know that the Ariel Atom was available for purchase in the US as a kit.

The factory-built ones use the UK Civic Type R engine. I think it's the same engine used by the US RSX-S, the K20A2. Basically, get an RSX-S engine/tranny combo and I'd guess it should drop right in without any engine-mount modifications.

You'll never get an S2000 engine working in this car without some serious and costly fabrication of custom parts.

The K20 engine is already nearly at F20 power levels - in such a light you probably wouldn't notice.

Elistan is spot on. These cars (the Ariel Atom) use the entire engine and drive train of a FWD car in the rear. Ther the no swapping, twisting or whatever. Just move the whole thing back.

So a Civic Type R or Integra would be a the ideal donor. With the K20 you get i-VTEC and simialr performance to an F20C plus heaps of aftermarket support should you want more.

As for crate motors, they don't come in crate for (long block plus accessories) from Honda. Some of the aftermarket companies will do them (Spoon, J's etc) but usually exchange for a good working long block. ANd if you have that alreday you'd be better off having it built by Alaniz or similar (IMNSHO).

Moot point though as you'd just be making life hard for yourself.

no, the B series and K series spin complete opposite of each other.

My understanding was that prior to 2000 and the F20C all Honda engines spun anti-clockwise and any new engines developed since then have spun clockwise. So A, B, D and H (not sure about Cs) spun anti-clockwise, Fs and K clockwise. That said, I'm sure there are exceptions.

First, I did a search on the name (Ariel Atom). Read up on the back round, seems even better than ever. Awesome, video on there home page.

Second, Thanks for the feed back, I was never looking to do any
