Cruising in V-Tec

Default Cruising in V-Tec

It it ok to drive at a high v-tec range(6000-8000) for a long period of time(example:4th gear on the interstate)?

well even 5th gear at 5000?I do because you get more torqe

Torque for what? To maintain speed? You don't need any. Plus, you don't really "get" more torque, you're using a load more fuel to produce it. Along with who knows how much extra wear on the valvetrain for just hanging at such high revs.

cruise on the Highway in 4th? you can't be serious?

Like said above, if you need to make a pass, just down shift and go. I don't see why'd you'd even think about doing anything differently.

My old B16 Crx used to cruise at 5k rpm at 75 MPH in 5th gear, which was in vtec. It even got decent MPG! 6k is a bit higher though.. just down shift when you need the power.

well, if your going up hill, I'm in 5th or 4th, depending on speed, but not on flat, thats just a waste
