Default Cylinder head chip

Hello everyone,

i had a question revolving around opinion.
i just got my cylinder head and noticed a few chips, I did not see them before and was hopping they are not going to be an issue or what should I do before installing or if it's okay to proceed and install.

Here are pics. Let me know what you think and thanks.

That doesn't look good, like something fell on it.

Do you think that will cause issues? Is it worth running it? Any way to fix?

Won’t be a problem if it’s smoothed out. Heat will concentrate on the protruding parts and could fall into the cylinder.

So your saying if i smooth it out it should be good? Is there any chance it could leak after I smooth it out?

Just looked at a oem HG.

That damage is directly in line with the raised sealing ridge of the HG. So no good.

Looks like you just had some head work done, did they damage it like that?

Hey bill man I was able to call the machinist and he told me that he didn't even notice it got damaged. He mentioned to bring it back and mentioned that he is able to weld the head with the same material and sand it down to original. Is that possible? He gurantedd me over the phone. He stated it should not give me any problems if he does that. Have you heard of something like or do you think it's possible?

If done right it is surely possible.

It is a must, as the damage is in direct line with the sealing edge of the HG.

Let them do it.
