Default danielg 0 - S2K Transmission 1

On the way to the local shop, during some "spirited" driving, 2nd gear went kaBLAMoh.

1st gear
Clutch in
shift to 2nd
clutch out
clunking noises > car not in gear > shift lever still in 2nd

Clutch in >neutral > 2nd gear
Clunking noises > car not in gear > shift lever still in 2nd.

2nd gear is nothing but noise. No engagement what so ever... 1st, 3rd-6th + reverse gears are still OK, but there is some major metal on metal noise coming from the tranny when the shifter is put in the 2nd gear slot. Limping on back to the shop, my S sits until the following day...we then take out the tranny....WOW, no more teeth!

There are a TON of options, and I don't know which way to go. I'm really wanting a tranny that's going to stand the abuse of banging gears with a 4 puck clutch...my intent is to stay NA, but who knows, maybe S/C will get my attention.

options thus far

Rebuild OEM SPEC
Rebuild OEM SPEC > CYRO + Friction treatments @ king motorsports
Rebuild custom spec > treatments @ kings = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
AP2 Transmission
Spoon transmission

Again, my biggest thing is having the transmission stand the abuse of banging gears. Any other options I should look for? What are you're opinions?

Now for the pics!

On the lift

Tranny almost out..

Tranny out, nice shot of the clutch

Tranny out, this is where the rear side of the driveshaft connects near the diff

Tranny shot 1

Tranny shot 2

Now for the bad stuff. Here's the metal shavings we found.

Here it is cleaned out and laying on the table

Finally pictures of the gear

What exactly does 'banging' gears mean... not using the clutch/not using the clutch enough? Not rev-matching?
