Default Day Time Running Lights

Does anyone know if there is a simple way to turn our amber corner head lights into day time running lights? Could it be as simple as a fuse or switch? I'd like to keep them on without the tail lights being lit all day

Do you know the part number and how to install it?? I REALLY want DRL!!

I am actually considering putting some fog lights into the air dams to act as DRLs. (I have also found the HIDs to be a nightmare in dense fog.)

I have studied the Helms manual. There is more to it than the DRL Module. Changing several splices, etc. are involved also. I concluded doing it would be a pretty ugly hack job, but may revisit it.

I will look at what would be required to run just the front amber lights.

I am also looking into leaving the digital display in day mode if you want to run the headlights during the day. Either with a switch or an automatic dimmer when it gets dark.

Come to think of it, your suggestion of an automatic dimmer for the display when it gets dark would be a sufficient solution for me.

The annoying part is not turning on the lights, but rather brightening the display every time I do so. The light switch is easy to get to, but the display button is a major pain!!

There are two ways to wire a photo-cell switch. Until it detected darkness it would:

1. Control just the digital display brightness (leave in Day Mode).

2. Control the digital display, plus keep the Tail and Marker lights OFF.

Which one is preferable?

Rex,

I'm also interested in just running the amber lights during the day. I think best would be at the 20w signal level, not the 5w parking level.

Keep us posted on your phot-cell progress.

I was looking to add DRL's, thought that I could just pop in the fuse and off I go. After looking at the fuse box, the slot for the DRL's is not even wired up on the US models. (if you look close, you can see that the contact's for the fuse holder are missing).
