Default decent torque wrench for casual DIYer?

i change out my rims 1-2x a year and i don't like using the torque stick. i have an impact wrench for loosening lugs.. so is the harbor freight one ok to use, or should i get something else?

Perfect for wheel nuts and other fasteners that do not require precise torque.

Setting torque is such an imperfect science that it doesn't matter a whole lot how good the wrench is.

It is the colored bar they use at tire places. It stops the impact wrenches from appling too much torgue. Discount Tires uses them. Then they use a torque wrench to make sure they are right.

I don't know if he is referring to the same torque stick but when i worked at sears torque sticks were extensions with different torque limits that you could use with an impact gun as to not overtighten the lugs. They typically have ranges such as 110-80 not very precise but better than overtightening lug nuts.

to the OP, Wow, $10 for a 1/2" torque wrench. i wouldn't trust a $10 torque wrench for more than 1 pull. i would spend more and get a Sears model at the very least.

I've been using the Harbor Freight torque wrench for over a year for wheels. No problems. It seems to work fine.
