check the if the valve cover gasket has been damaged. also check if the spark plug seals are seated correctly over the spark plug tubes. Are you sure it's oil? Oil doesn't burn white.

Is there something special about your valve cover that he needed to track it with? What's was wrong with his? I hope he actually gave you back YOUR cover and not his own.

PS. If your friend doesn't appreciate what you did for him then never let him borrow anything again!

Stop driving the car until we figure out the issue. If its leaking from the side like that it could be the valve cover gasket. Or maybe the valve cover isn't tightened enough.

oh and use a torque wrench to put that cover on. 8.7 lb-ft isn't very much.

You don't want to be driving a car with oil leaking onto an exhaust manifold. Unless you like your car extra crispy.

yessir :3

gonna be picking up the seal tomorrow and hoping that'll do the job... and fix whatever issue it might've had..

and of course not driving it til it's fixed... sad thing is my other car's window shattered yesterday and having helll of a pain repairing it because parts of the regulator got shattered glass into it so it's giving a lot of stress grinding and pulling all that glass out

thanks for looking out!

also as far as torque goes. i read it was around 8~10 and I have been just doing as hard as a hand can as most advised... i was wondering, when you put the valve cover onto the top... only way to tighten is through the bolts right??? i wish there was a way to tighten it a bit more :/

Don't understand why oil leaking onto the exhaust manifold would affect the way the car is running?
Even if you replace the gasket and stop the leak, I don't think it would change your not being able to go over 4k issue. Something else must be going on there.

If I can recall, there are a few things to disconnect when you take the valve cover off. Make sure EVERYTHING is put back in place.
