destroking and engine
if you have a 1.6 liter engine and you want to destroke it to a 1.5 liter, can you do this by simply changing the rods? or must you also change the crank in order to keep the same compression? i didn't think it was necessary to change the crank..... ???
When you destroke an engine, what all does this entail? If you change the crank so your stroke is shorter, how do you keep compression? I was told longer rods was an answer or taller pistons?
By changing only the piston rod and not the crank, the "stroke" will be the same amount of travel. All you'd be doing is increasing the amount of volume above the piston at the top of it's travel by shortening the rod. I suppose this might be a good way of making this engine a "non-interference" one.
