Default did u guys know?

well, yesterday i was messing with the car ( new to the S2k world ) and i opened the air box. i was checking on the air filter to make sure it was clean. man to my surprise, i was expecting to see a flat, drop in air filter but no.. i saw a conical air filter, much like the after market intake. hum.. do all the S2000 have that? and i drive the car around without the cover of the air box last nite, it sounded mean. would that do damage to my engine? the seal between the filter and the tubing was tight. anyway, any feedback is good. thanks

Use the search you will find a plethora of information. But even though it sounds better you loose power, keep the lid on and get a cai. Or you could even gut the airbox.

That lid blocks it from suckin in hot air from the engine bay and yes, it iwll sound better with the lid off but you dont really have much to worry about in that aspect. As for a CAI, i think you will get different opinions from different people as to what brand and risks and such. I am hydrolock paranoid so i stick with the stock box, but i have read a post where one of the members did a beautiful mod to his stock box to gain the CAI effect. Ill post the link when i find it.

I was told a Spoon intake, which goes into your stock box, with a Turbonator, or Spiralmax, is even better than a CA. Opinions?

Pls back this up with some numbers or data, 'cause in every dyno I've seen with the lid off, peak #'s either stayed level or went up, not down.

How come every time I try to open my air filter box I get sprayed with boiling hot, orange-colored fluid?
