Last night, I was driving around a park for a little while, just cruisin'. I pulled into a parking spot and shut it off. I started to get out and realized it looked as though it was going to rain, so I got back in to turn it on to put my top up. Nothing. Only a little power was dimly lighting the overheads, the dash wasn't even lit up. I got concerned and tried to start it. Of course, nothing. So we proceeded to try and jump it. Still nothing. I managed to get the top up off of power from the battery we were jumping it with, but it wouldn't start?
It tried to turn over, but to no avail.
Any ideas of what it could be? Alternator? Starter?

sounds like ur battery took a crap. if there is a local Advance Auto Parts near you, they will test ur battery and alternator for free. take out the battery and bring it up to them. if its completely dead it will take about 30 minutes to charge and test. if its garbage, buy a new one. then go home and start the car with the new battery and bring it back down to get the alternator checked out. then if u want. the starter as well. the battery will cost like $60. trust me i work for an Advance Auto. the tests are free. i dont know if Auto Zone does that or not. but it wouldnt hurt to ask. sounds like a Dead Cell in the battery though. especially if its an orignal battery, 5 yrs. its prolly the battery

 

yes, if the battery is completely dead, jumping it won't do anything.
