Is the car trying to move at all? Can you see the driveshaft spinning under the car when you try to let out the clutch? Just making sure its actually something in the rear end and not the transmission because that sounds really bad

look underneath your car to see if your axle is broken. at least you'll be able to eliminate that.

Yea, its either the diff, tranny, or axle. If your driveshaft isn't spinning when the clutch is out and its grinding then its the tranny. If the driveshaft is spinning and the axle looks to be in one piece its probably the diff. If it was the diff or axle I would still expect the car to try to move a little at least tho when you let the clutch out

if it was the tranny, it would likely lock him out of gear no? But since he could get into gear but not actually move the car, it leads me to believe that it is the diff. probably blown and not allowing the gears to turn

axles are interchangeable, the diff is not directly interchangeable. you'll have to use the flange that matches the driveshaft. (AP1 driveshaft = AP1 flange on the diff. AP2 driveshaft=AP2 flange on the diff). forgot what they're called.. lol

Look for a twisted cv boot. If it twisted, the joint is broken inside.

My bet is left inner joint, almost guaranteed.
