Default Diff maintanence

First of all, I just wanted to thank all of you who posted past info on the diff, because it saved me from having mine blow up.
Neways.. My question is, I bought my 2000 s2000 last september and it now has 64,000 miles, and haven't burned out ever..! Not even once!! Truthully! Yet.. After eating clicking in the rear end, I changed my diff fluid and it was filled with metal shavings. I took it to the shop, and it had a broken pinion and the posi was damgaed consequently. It's being fixed righ now.. All new parts, 1350 installed. The real point of this point is.. Is it normal for a diff to go after only 60,000 miles? With no burnouts? And is there any preventaive maintanece I can do to protect my new diff. Thanks for all your guys help.

confusing how you say it saved you from having your diff blow up, but your diff if practically blown up.

anyway, i would not say it is normal for a diff to go after only 60,000 miles, especially with no burnouts.

i have 115,000 miles on my original diff, with 3 burnouts and 4 track days.

I think the car was abused before you bought it.

Well.. The diff is getting new parts, rather that. A whole new diff having to be purchased. also, the car didn't break down on the road In the middle of nowhere. Of the wheels didn't lock up and send me sliding all over the place. LOL. Neways.. I just want to prevnt this happening in the future. Nething I can to to help that? I know changing diff oil every 10,000 Miles is a good idea. Also wondering, is it
Bad to floor it after Im moving? Like.. In first gear, going 15.. Than taking off. It doesn't peel out.. But I am accelerating quickly.

How can you say the car has never experienced any burnouts when it has been in your possession for such a short time? When you buy a used car you have NOOOOO idea what the previous owner did and can only guess. My guess would be that he was hard on it!

the thing about a diff is that it can be severely weakened with certain abuse. Once that has happened it can be a ticking time bomb so rest assure If you drive your car properly this will not happen again once fixed.

thanks for the info.. I Definitely won't abuse it. Other than burnouts.. Are there any other ways to weaken a diff?
