diff is messed up, any suggestions?
I'm...skeptical that it's the driveshaft. I've never heard of one grinding. They pop, they bind but, I've never heard grinding. Particularly if the boots are still sealed and full of grease. It it was me, I'd have completely disassembled the brakes on that side and examined the hub and calipers. Honestly the symptoms sound like a rock between the caliper and dust shield or maybe a bad wheel bearing.
Switch the axles left and right and see if the grind follows the axle.

Well the boot was twisted, the sound is coming from the left side of the differential.
It's not the brakes, the brakes were never a factor when it happend, and it will still grind without the brakes on. And the grind is not a small grind, it is LOUD.
