Default Diff oil quicky?

Please excuse my ignorance.
I've searched diff oil on here so much that I'm square eyed. Ultimately one post stated 'BE CAREFUL', so I am.

I can't easily get Mobil 1 75W/90 over here (New Zealand) so I bought Red Line 75W90 API GL-5+ Hypoid Gear Oil.

The shop had a few types, two appeared exactly the same except that one was for LSD's, one was not. I bought the one that was for LSD equpped cars.

Part no: 57316 6955-007423

The blurb states "The extreme slipperiness of this lubricant helps prevent limited-slip chatter"

Bang it in? or Take it back?

Thanks for any help.

Negcamber and 8Sol8 thankyou.

8SoL8, wow $90 per quart, I might have still gone with that but I've already purchased the Red Line oil ($30 quart/litre).
Are you sourcing the LE1605 from the North Harbour Lubrication Engineers outlet?
I have found Plexus here in Christchurch, expensive at $33 for an aerosol can but good stuff.
I'd also love to locally source Lexol, Vinylex, 303 or Raggtopp and do you have a good source for Shin-etsu grease as my Honda dealer wants an incredibe $135 for 100ml of the stuff when it is available in the US for $12!!!!
Thanks,
Paul.

FYI, in the future you don't need the LSD additive. Get the other next time.

Note: Our LSD is not a clutch type. It is a mechanical type. No additive needed.

I can change it, it's not open yet, should I?

Are there any Honda Marine shops/workshops out there?

Honda Marine has an SAE 90 GL-5 hypoid gear oil.
And that is exactly the spec you need.
LE1605 is also (but the price! )

It's difficult finding good oils over here.

Off the shelf autoparts fluids are low quality and even Mobil 75W/90 is hard to find let alone Honda marine oil.

I can however get Red Line and I'd really like to know if I should swap the 75W/90 LSD gear oil I've bought for the non LSD version of the same?

First: I'm not a big fan of multiweight oils for the S2000 diff.
But that's just me.

The oil you have is ok to use in normal and LSD type diffs according to Redline.

If you can get the full range of Redline oils you could consider the 75W-140 NS next time, IMO!

I have not seen any good UOA's of RL 75W-90 GL5 from an S2000. I have seen one unacceptable one. Until I see a good one, I can't recommend that brand. I have seen good M1 75W-90 UOA's though, and it is very popular on this website. So that would be my choice if my choices were limited. If you can't find a marina near you, maybe there is a motorcycle shop nearby. They usually have several SAE 90 options to choose from. They might even have SAE 110. Good luck.
