Default Diff Sound When Letting Off The Gas

I have an 02 S2K with 25k miles on it. After I changed the diff fluid to Mobil 1 I started to hear some slight diff noise just when I am driving down the road and let off the gas. Right when I let off the gas and kinda hold it there a bit. If that makes sense. This is my first RWD so I'm not positive it's coming from the diff but thats my guess. Could it be low diff fluid? I could not get 100% of the quart in the diff but pretty much all of it.

Also I have heard the S's have clutch whine. Is that when putting the clutch in and letting it out at times? What causes such thing?

Well....if you used Mobil1 75W90, that's great stuff.

The sound you are hearing is likely normal. It comes from unloaded gears in the rear. I can get any s2k to make the noise if I float the throttle just right.

Sorry forgot to mention, I used the Mobil1 75W90. I'm just scared I did not put enough in. It was hard as hell to get all 2 quarts of the MTF in the tranny and the quart of Mobil to get in the Diff. Next time I will be getting longer tubing to use.

Floating the throttle is EXACTLY the word I was trying to think of. Thats the only time it does it, and when i did it once and heard the noise, I keep doing it because it bugs me. So it's no big thing, just unloaded gears?

Anyone know what causes that whiney noise from the clutch at times?

Clutch noise you will have to elaborate on.

For the dif, if you got 7/8 of the bottle in there, you're good. There will be a little left over.

I still say your noise is normal. Based on what you say, and not hearing it of course

The clutch noise is when I put the clutch and and let it out at times. Just sounds like wee. lol kinda hard to describe, but I'd call it a whine, it may do it all the time but if it does I do not notice it all the time.

The differential is like you said just when I float the throttle....it's no other time.

Thanks for the answers...lol. I have the same issue but did not know how to begin to describe "floating" the throttle.

And I also have a 8 puck competition clutch stage ? lol. I ordered a stage 1 but got an 8 puck. So I dunno what stage that even is. But I thought that would account for some drivetrain noise.

This sound brings me back to the forums. I got used to the sound but now it seems it's getting worse. Sounds like a hollow clunking like a marble in a plastic box. Someone please figure this out, it's driving me crazy!
