Default Difference between Europe/ US engines?

I recently replaced the engine in my US spec 2002 S2000, with an engine from a UK 2005 S2000.

The engine doesn't run good at at all. It won't go above 3000rpm and basically will not move under its own power.

While the replacement engine is from a newer car and different market, pretty much all the sensors/ everything was taken off of the old car. The only thing that came with the new engine was the intake manifold, and whatever might be in it.

Does anybody know of any differences in sensors, electronics, engine, etc. that might result in it running horribly wrong?

Here is a different topic I started about the issue:

the only thing i know is that a 2005 UK engine is going to be a F20C2 not like your US spec F20C1,

No, just bare engine (with intake manifold). Everything else, sensors, ecu are from the original car.

Well I pretty sure The F20C2 from europe doesn't have OBDII but somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

The F20C2 is 11.3 Compression Ratio though so

I would say that somewhere along the line there are other differences between the two ( I though I heard that you adjust the valves exactly OPPOSITE of how you do it on a US SPEC engine) so there could be something crazy happening with the ECU trying to control the timing. I'm not the worlds greatest mechanic though.

The higher compression from our european F20C2 might just be the problem.

Do you run it on 93 RON pump gas? We have to put in 98 RON which is the "super unleaded here". I think that is the same in the UK (I'm in Belgium).

It might be your knock sensor putting the ECU in "limp" (safe) mode. The car might detonate due to the higher compression and lower RON combination.

I might be totally wrong on this but it was the first thing to spring to mind...

oooops forgot to check that, sorry.

Maybe the MAP sensor then? the one that is situated on top of the throttle body, Did you change that over from your old engine?

No. Those are almost the same. US octane numbers are about 4-5 points lower for the equivalent European rating.
