Default Differential Fluid

I am about to change the differential fluid on my 2004 S2000, and I bought Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lubricant. It says it is GL-5 quality, and it is 75w-90 weight. The book for the car recommends a 90 weight gear oil. Will this fluid work well in the car? Thanks in advance for any help.

Mike

One bottle is fine. Differential takes less than 1 quart to fill it up.

This is what I use as well.
I personally believe it's the best all around gear oil out there. LE is more specialized - more appropriate for track use, but is too thick for street use and is not good in cold weather.

Amsoil SG 75W110 is best for 4.56/4.57 Richmond gears, for light to moderate track use or where temps regularly are high.
The SG 75W90 is good for everyday use with stock gearsets and will provide the best overall mileage with the highest levels of protection available.

I personally think Mobil 1 75W90 is a good gear oil, probably my number 3 choice.
I'm a fan of some of Redline's motor oils - but feel there gear oil and MTF line are behind the pack. I haven't seen a clean Redline diff drain yet.
Amsoil comes out clean (especially after the second fill), and I've seen a few Mobil 1 75W90 diffs drain pretty clean.

If you have the Mobil 1 75W90 on hand - use it, it's fine. If you're thinking about ordering some - I'd recommend ordering the Amsoil online instead.

Mobil 1 is fine. It got rid of the gear whine that I seemed to have.
