I dont care what anyone says...
Amsoil 75/110
I sell amsoil on the side for fun, and so i can get my fluids really cheap, and for my friends. Amsoil is the BEST diff fluid i have ever used. The product is "Amsoil Sever Gear 75w110" it may be a little hard to find, not too expensive, buy a couple of em, it only takes one, but i keep em on hand.

If you dont like it, then something is wrong with your diff.

what the? US dealers don't carry the OEM SAE90 API Honda hypoid gear oil?
Strange, I picked up a bottle from my dealer last week
they've never offered such a fluid here, I take it they did in Australia. No big deal for us as there are so many better fluids available in the aftermarket, even if they did offer it I'd never use it when we have Amsoil and Redline and Lubrication Engineers, Mobil1 producing superior fluids.

My conclusion after reading through this thread is that ANY of the named brands plus the correct viscosity will work perfectly fine . I've only changed my diff fluid once and used LE since it was offered for sale by H&A and HTG which (at minimum and by implication) has to be well suited for use in the S2000. My last purchase for my next change is Mobil-1 because of it's ready availability and not because I believe it's better than the LE . I also think that the other brands mentioned here are fine. Your call.

look in the owners manual . it recommends use any SAE 90 viscosity hypoid gear oil classified GL5 or GL6 only. i think any fluid hypoid gl5 or gl6 with a 90w, or like 75w90. is more than efficient enough. running synthetic gear oil of the same weight and or higher viscosity is extra protection.

right now im using Tomei GL5 75w90 full synthetic gear oil. i had some noise from the lsd on really tight turns with the fluid that was put in from the factory. gone with the tomei gear oi.

Where do I find these gear oils? Can you buy any of them at a brick and mortar store in Southern California's Orange County? I need the oil by this Tuesday. I am having other repairs done on my S2000 on Tuesday at my mechanic and I want him to change the diff fluid while I am there anyway. I want to bring the gear oil in myself for the diff fluid change. The dealer put the wrong gear oil in before and ruined my diff so I am very afraid. The mechanic will probably use the right one but I don't want to take a chance.

Does it make a difference which one to pick if I autocross?

Thank you,

Kathy

dont forget to buy 2 washers from the dealer. gear oils are sold in most auto parts stores. RP and Mobil 1 are available in Autozone.

If you live anywhere near Van Nuys, CA then you can buy LE1605 here:

http://mag-hytec.com/oil.htm

They have it in stock usually, but a call ahead might be wise. This oil will be more than adequate for your climate and Auto-X. If you can't replace the washers with Honda parts, you'll survive. Just try to replace them next time you change the differential oil. You will need to buy one quart for the change. Good luck and have fun!

Personally, I just use Mobil 1 due to it's very high availability, and I have had zero issues.

I may try Amsoil or LE next time, though. As long as it's GL5 there should be no issues no matter what you use.
