Two OEM axels and a drive shaft will set you back more than you think. They are not nut. Really.

Here you go!

I knew you were fast, Red... but defying the space-time continuum!!! That's amazing!

Not to hi-jack your thread, but I think I can add some additional info. Since I just got pics of my 03 diff that blew up, I figured I'd share them, with a description of the scenario, as you have.

I recently finished off my rear diff about a week ago. I got it apart and took pictures of what I've found. But I'll give a little history first, It started making a wining noise only when off load. (IE cruise, between on/off throttle and decel) This was an immediate after effect of a missed 5-2 downshift, missing 4th, obviously, made the noise ever since... Then about 3000 miles later, a 3rd to 2nd downshift at 5-6k to race some dude popped it. The driver side half shaft had popped out of the diff. I replaced it with an 04, and this is what was inside waiting on me. Ive also got a shot of my ever increasing "components to repair" pile! They are accumulating faster than I can fix them, lol. Minus the head, its perfect 1/2 way through a hand port/polish.

Below is the link to a DETAILED description of the initial diff injury.

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...&#entry10194827

It powered onward after this fine, just made noise under those low/no load conditions.. I lasted about 3-4 months, 3000 miles, and I still did some powerslides, and peel outs, but I dont track the car ever, or drag. 275x35x18's on the back, 325whp about.

To start looking for used diffs on ebay...

It'll cost more to rebuild a diff than to pick up a used one.

This one also looks like it would have been prevented by the Comptech reinforcement. But then again, do you then just transfer damage to the pinion and toast that like I did....
