Default Disassembling a stock MY06 exhaust...

Hey all,

About to buy a HKS exhaust and was wondering if the stock exhaust can be disassembled? I live in an apartment with limited storage and would need to transport the stock exhaust about 60 miles for proper storage. Can the stock exhaust be taken apart into smallish chunks for transport?

Also, about how long does an install take if I were to do it myself with two jack stands (no lift... ). I've swapped out an exhaust on my 00si, but haven't been under my new baby yet...

Any help you guys could offer would be great...Thanks...

You will need to cut it unless you have a truck. There are no breaks after the cat. Then if you wish to reinstall it a muffler shop can weld it back together. I just put mine in my attic without cutting. It was 50 lbs and very hard to handle (and get through the opening).

Unless the '06 has a new design, they all pretty much look like this:

That's what mine looks like. Only 50 lb? I was guessing about 75.

Any weight savings on aftermarket cat-back systems? Performance?

50 lbs is heavy enough when you're alone and laying on your back.

Not many dual cat backs will give you any power gains. This is restricted mostly to singles, but those will be loud and tend to drone so bad, you'll wish you left the car at home.
Singles can weigh as little as 12 lbs. Duals might save you 20 lbs. or a bit more.

All Stock S2k exhausts are 1 piece from the convertor flange to the tips, Just like xviper's pic.

His 06 exhaust should be a bit cleaner though.
