...I'd argue just the opposite, spend $80 on a can and some tubing?

In fact, I come from a long line of import tuners before parts were manufactured. Use of flexible ducting and tie wraps were very common on then expensive $20,000 Japanese sport compacts. After living through that, I never envisioned paying over $100 for an intake (ok, I'm sort of a hypocrite seeing that I have an intake that costs 10x's more...but anyway (do as I say, not as I do)).

What I'm getting at, is that I certainly appreciate the write up of something so simple to make.

....Darkknight, would it have helped if he got the plastic bottle painted and glossed in black? At least that way, this mod wouldn't look like a 'cheap" plastic bottle.

Great idea, but I think I will have to agree with darkknight that it would look really out of place in the engine bay of an S2000.

You know, there is a huge benefit to this design... you could actually see how much oil you're getting in there... with the metal ones you have to take it apart to get a good look in there.

It's the main reason I never went to a GReddy-type solution myself.

I think Harry's setup's great and there's something very cool (IMO) about making your own stuff instead of dropping big bucks on a name. It's got that inverse-snobbery that the guy in torn jeans and beat-up old skis displays when he flies by you heading down the mountain, graceful and relaxed, while you're picking your way across the slope hoping not to hurt yourself.

For those of you who stand around in parking lots and gawk at one another's cars, maybe the home-made stuff isn't for you. But I think it's great, and we should be grateful to Harry for sharing his work with the board. If you don't want to follow his lead, fine. Go drop some money on something that says "Mugen" or "Spoon" but don't jump all over him for sharing a clearly-workable solution with you.
