Default DIY: VTEC Oil Pressure Switch Leak Fix

Hey Guys, So the pass few days I've noticed that I had a slow oil leak coming from the engine. I couldn't tell where it was coming from originally due to all the dirt and grime on the engine. First step I had to do to see where to oil was coming from was to clean the engine and wait a couple of days and diagnose where the leak occurred. Then I had notice the leak was coming from out of my VTEC Oil Pressure Switch. I figured I'll do a DIY for it since I couldn't find one one here. This one is fairly easy and should probably take 15 mins max.

Tools Needed.
Ratchet
10mm Socket
Extension
Wrench
Replacement O-Ring PN# 91319-PAA-A01. This part could be bought at the local Dealer for under 4 bucks.

Part # 23 is the O-Ring

First Step is to remove the remove the 10mm bolt and clip from the top of the VTEC Solenoid.

Next is to remove the Clip from the VTEC Oil Pressure Switch. Be careful not to break the switch as it may be brittle. As you can see oil is around the switch.

Use the the wrench and go from underneath the switch to remove the switch. This may be easier to remove the intake for more clearance. I have the K&N intake so it was easier to remove, not sure how much room the stock intake would have. Also be careful not to break the brittle switch. Once loosened, unscrew the switch the rest by hand.

As seen here you can further see oil inside and around the swtich.

Remove the old O-Ring shown and clean out any excess oil that may be present on the switch and around the area.

Insert the new O-Ring in the O-ring groove in the switch and reverse the steps to put everything back together.

I will check and see in a couple of days if the leaking continues but I'm pretty sure this should fix it.

i just performed this DYI and waiting to see if the new o-ring fixed the issue. thanks for the write up!

I believe this is the same o-ring as the allen bolt on the front of the crankcase as i used a spare that i had laying around.

This thread is a life saver (I hope). Massive oil coming from my vtec solonoid and this DIY explained why it is around my oil pressure switch. $6 O-ring and hopefully I'll call it a day ($6 for an o-ring is murder...).

Yeah, I get it. I could have put them back same as I found them: hand tight. I'm pretty sure I got them torqued to 8ftlbs with just my fingers.

I'm just making sure I don't over tighten them.

Most grown man and hobby mechanics just over-tight such small bolts way to much. It´s all O.K. until the aluminum thread in wich the Bolt goes makes "SNAP".
Therfore, asking for a torque value is a wise question.
By the way, when the VTEC valve leaks, it could also spray oil onto the header, like the oil filter? Better be safe than sorry.

Thank you for bumping this thread! I never knew there was a VTEC o-ring. Everyone only talks about the two gaskets.

My VTEC solenoid is leaking oil so that's on the list. I will pick up the o-ring in addition to the two gaskets and do them all at once.

Timely, just discovered mine leaking tonight when pulled connector off and had oil inside.

Was looking at another thread about torque spec. People breaking vtec bolts. Doesn't make me feel less worthy using a torque wrench to make sure things are correct vs going by feel.
