Default Does this make sense ?

The dealership was replacing the Cable reel today in my S and after replacing the cable reel they said the computer was throwing an error code indicating that the Steering Angle Sensor is bad. They think that when they replaced the Cable reel it also requires the Steering Angle Senor to be replaced ?

Is this correct or is there a chance that my Steering angle sensor has been bad for a while.

I had recently been complaining about the steering not having even force on both sides and now they find the above problem, so I am wondering if there is a chance the two are related ?

Any thoughts ?

Thanks,

This should be warranty work anyways...

BTW: which cable reel are you talking about?

There isn't one for the throttle if you have a 2007

I work on MINI's, which also have a steering angle sensor. If you change the position of the steering angle sensor without recalibrating it to the new position, it will set a code. I don't know if this is the case with Hondas, but I'd bet it is. If this is the case, they should recalibrate it for free if they caused it.

The cable reel they replaced is in the steering column. They said if affects the SRS, Horn and Cruise control.

Yes they are both under warranty so done for free, I was just curious as to weather replacing the Cable reel requires replacing the steering angle sensor.

I hope they properly recalibrate everything so I do not have to take it back again.

Since when did the S2000 have a "steering angle sensor". It is not in the technical documentation? (as I head out to confirm)

Because you accidentally put him on your ignore list.

They are probably talking about the torque/neutral sensor, in the rack unit.

The cable reel (or clockspring as it is sometimes reffered) is not related to the TNS in the rack.

It is the Steering Angle sensor not the torque neutral one as you mentioned, unless they lied to me and are doing the other

VSA equipped cars have a steering angle sensor. 00-05 cars won't have one.

The steering angle sensor is located in the same area as the cable reel.

Replacing the reel doesn't require replacing the angle sensor. Why are they replacing the reel to begin with?
