Does the Vortech FMU and The Comptech FPR do the same thing? Any insight on differences or similarities would be great!

They are both rising rate FMU's, the Vortech uses a 10:1 ratio. For every pound of boost, the fuel pressure is increased 10lbs. The Vortech can be re-calibrated to a differant rate using kits from Vortech. The Comptech has an adjustable static fuel pressure, but I'm not sure of it's rising rate. I'd guess it's close to the Vortech unit.
