Default does your vtec not work when cold?

i usually wait till one bar goes up and then i start driving, which is what i did. but when i tried to pass someone, the car hit some kind of fuel cut or what not at 6k right before vtec and wouldn't go anymore and i had to shift. the rpm didn't bounce or anything, just felt like it shut off. did anyone else encounter this problem? but as the car warmed up after a mile of driving, i tried again and everything was fine.

It's a safty precaution from the factory that keeps us from blowing up our engine by going to fast with out proper lubrication, something you should never do THe engine should be warmed up to about three or four bars I believe depending on the year.

Your car is just reminding you who the alpha is.
