Default Driveability Issues with Lightweight Flywheels

I expect to do a clutch change in the near future, I was wondering if anyone has felt any driveability issues going to very lightweight flywheels , in the range of 8 lbs approx. I think Toda and ACT have flywheels in the 8 lbs range
Fidanza has a 7.55 lb flywheel (aluminum with steel insert), and I think there are some others out there in the 11 lb range. On my ap1 the factory fly is supposed to be around 15 lbs. I'm trying to decide if I should look for something in the 11 lb range or go ultra-light down to around 8 lbs. This is for a daily driven street s2k setup, totally stock. When reading ACT's pro-lite flywheel information they list reduced driveability as one of the side effects, so it made me wonder. I'd appreciate any real world experience and opinions on light flywheels for ap1 s2k's , thanks for any replies.

I run a 9lb act. There are no drivability issues. I don't know why people say there are. I stalled it the first time I started off after the install and never did it again. I love it.

Thanks for the reply, that is what I was looking for - real world opinions. I just was concerned because ACT stipulates reduced driveability on their website for their ultralite flywheel, I thought it was odd. I appreciate the great info, stalling it out once ain't too bad

I have been using a Toda for many years without problem.

I drive a 10.5lb competition clutch flywheel with a 6puck sprung unit and STILL stall it about once a week. Don't let someone talk you into thinking there won't be a learning curve just because they are certain they are a badass.

If you are installing JUST a flywheel and not a high performance clutch, then have no reservations. I have an ACT Prolite paired with my stock clutch and honestly it is no harder to drive than it was stock, requires maybe 10% more attention to engagement but it is also easier to take off from a stop quickly because the clutch bites down faster.

Thanks for the additional replies, I will be using it with a stock disc and pressure plate.

Comptech FW (= 11lbs??) with OEM disk & ACT PP (Hardtopguy clutch kit).
No driveability issues, no performance increase I could detect either.
And I was expecting some, with the 4.57 diff making it easier for the engine to rev up.
While accelerating, the weight of the car has IMO a much greater influence than the weight of the spinning FW.
In neutral you can notice it, so rev matching is slightly easier.

The six puck and your left foot are the problem.

I have the ACT heavy duty clutch kit (disc and pp) with the ACT X-lite flywheel. There are no problems, but it a bit easier to stall the car when driving off. Just have to get used to it.
