drivetrain slack?
Today I raised up my driver side rear tire and when I was moving the tire left and right in a fast motion I could hear this "clunk-clunk.." Is this normal? I not 100% sure where its coming from, I think it's between the axle and the differential. I dont have any problems with the car. I'm just wondering why is this. Can someone please raise their rear tire and move it left and right in a fast paced motion and see if you hear anything? BTW my s2k is 2003 w/140000 miles. thanks
I posted a thread on this 2 weeks ago. Mine is an 06 with 65k. I had about 3 degrees of slack. I eliminated about half of it by installing Megan half shaft spacers. The rest of the slack I assume is normal, but I'm sure rebuilding the diff might help even more.
It may depending on how warn it is. but I wouldn't count on it cuz even tho you may have one wheel off you still are gonna the slack in the transmission as well as the differential. If there was 100% no slack you will over heat the bearings in the dif and transmission.
