I will switch into 5th after 40-45mph in the city, but I won't go into 6th until I'm doing 55+. No sense in putting extra stress on the car by driving in a higher gear at slower speeds.

it doesnt' save that much more gas, the real way to save gas is to not have a heavy foot..

I had a 3000gt and it had so much torque I could put it in 6th at 30mph, no problem

I've spent plenty of time in 6th gear at 45mph - about 2500 rpm. No issues whatsoever.

The road speed is not nearly as material as engine RPM. Running in any gear other than 1st and second below 2,000 RPM is not good practice.
I thought the "magic" number was 1,500 rpm is what you're suppose to stay over?

Try driving around in 5th or 6th gear at 1,500 RPM's and see how bad your engine lugs. I'll pass.

If you bought this car to conserve gas then you bought the wrong Honda.
