Yeah :/ And I realize now I meant to say the lock nut that you tighten when doing a valve adjustment. I did one on the car last year sometime—not sure how much I tightened the lock nut, (but I was a bit paranoid while doing it so I'm sure whether or not I torqued it, that I tightened it pretty well) but the valves I adjusted based on the standard clearance specs. Just as tight as needed, but not too tight. And I was pretty meticulous while working on each one.

Just the dropped valve apparently—it was broken off of its stem, and then smashed around the cylinder—and at those speeds, etc. etc. I guess that was enough. Not sure why the valve dropped in the first place still, though. As I said, I heard valve lash for a while before it happened, but didn't think too much of it, I figured maybe it just need an adjustment soon again (but that was also strange because I had just done one last fall)

Also, if I'm trying to replace the engine, is there a specific year I should be looking for? I need to replace the complete intake system as well, so keeping in mind the whole DBW etc. of the 08 ap2, what year should I look to get? or does it not matter and can I adjust any ap2 f22C to work?

(assuming i'm getting a new 08 intake manifold. which isn't necessary but is for now the plan)

How could the nut get into the cylinder? No way for it get into or exhaust track...

Sent from my SM-G920P using IB AutoGroup
This. How would the jam nut get into the combustion chamber? The only openings are the the intake/exhaust vales and the spark plug hole right?

One of my jam nuts went loose and once and all was well. I found on top of the head in a pool of oil.

I would try to get an 08-09 for the simple fact that all the sensors are the same. But you could do an 06-09 really and just use your old sensors. That's probably the biggest difference.

Which sensors are you referring to? oil pressure, etc?

If you're looking for an engine, you should resort to the facebook s2000 classified pages. Specifically, look up Tom Wlodarczyk, hes a very well known and respected member of the socal used parts community and has shipped stuff to guys all across the nation. I've purchased parts from him and even helped him pull a motor before. He just got in an 06 ap2 with a DBW engine. He's asking 3,500 for the complete swap with 96k miles. It's worth looking into, he's parted out like 20+ s2000s.
