OUCH! :argh:

Autopsy photos look like engine was not running lean --- trying to look for any silver lining. Good luck with the new engine & repairs. :)

Jeezus.

Can you provide more details on the over-rev that caused this?
are you sure it wasn't a 5 to 2?

Did you stay in it? Anytime I have ever done this in any car I have always got back out of it before the clutch fully engaged and have gotten lucky

Did you actually drop a valve (i.e the retainer let go) or did you just float that valve into the piston? Typically retainers just don't let go instantaneously

Piston to exhaust valve contact at 10700 or better, 100%.

Likely all intake retainers are fractured. In a case this bad, very tiny cracks may be found on the exhaust retainers.

My luck has been pretty bad with all my cars in the past year.

Have you had any luck with bicycles and or skateboards?

I'm usually pretty good about taking my foot off the gas and onto the clutch if i make a mistake but I couldn't tell you how fast I did it at the time

I didn't notice this before, but it looks like the valve was completely split in half... lengthwise. I don't think I've ever seen this before.

I think what you are seeing is the other exhaust valve has broken off its stem and has become embedded in the port of the adjacent valve.
