Default DTC Code P1457

My CEL came on yesterday. So my roommate, who has an "access port" to read the OBD, looked up the DTC (Diagnotic Trouble Codes).

The code was P1457. I looked it up online and the description is: EVAP Control System Leak Detected (Canister Area)

http://www.diagnosticdialog.com/LookupCode.asp

Besides bad gas, or gas cap failure, are there any other "possible" problems that typically trigger this code? Before I take it into Honda and get charged $50 for a simple answer.

Thanx

Nothing to do with the gas cap. That's a different code.
You either have a leak someplace in the cannister (crack in can, loose or cracked hose?) or the cannister purge valve is faulty. Could possibly be from severe overfill of gas tank.

Couldn't have been from overfill, I was near empty when the light went on. Well, I better drop it off at Honda to have them look at it.

Thanx for the response!!

There are to many possibilities to list what could be the cause. Don't be surprised if it takes a while to diagnose, Evap systems are complicated, and difficult for even the best mechanics.

P1456 would be the DTC for a leak at the Fuel cap.

Had this code last summer. In my case, had to replace the EVAP bypass solenoid valve. Look at TSB 03-001. This problem seems to be common on several honda models.

Was covered under warranty.
