DTC puller purchase advice
I'm considering buying a OBDII DTC puller and want to know if anyone has had any experience with the Actron "Pocketscan Code Puller" [model CP9125].
I'm not interested in an expensive unit, just one to read and clear codes... but I don't want to buy a POS either.
Any comments or recommendations will be appreciated.

Don't know if you can see this but I use one of these:

It's an "Inova 3100" OBD II code reader. It also clears codes. I got one of these for $150.00Cdn when on sale.
I see the Actron unit you speak of and it looks OK. I don't think there's much that can go wrong with these things, so getting a POS is unlikely. I didn't see how much they cost but unless it's a 20 buck product, it should do the job. It's not like you will use it that often and "wear it out".

I have the Actron you're talking about. It is extremely basic. It will show you codes, and let you clear them. That's it. It won't show you any of the other obd-ii data such as temperatures, pressures, etc.
It's good for what it does though, to pull and erase codes.

Hey Guys .... thanks for the input. In researching the various products I ran across this statement regarding OBDII Scanners:
"C.A.N. (Complete Controller Area Network) protocol coverage. CAN, which is used on a handful of makes and models today, will be mandatory on all vehicles manufactured for use in the U.S. beginning in 2008. It is the fastest way yet for computerized vehicles to speak with their high tech systems."
Most of the current Scanner models do NOT include the CAN capability [for instance the Inova model 3110 does... model 3100 does not]. Does this mean that all scanners that are not CAN compliant won't be able to be used to pull codes on cars newer than model year 2008? Or is it just an "add-on" capability that won't effect older scanners?

Well after doing more reading than I ever intended, I decided to buy the Innova Model 3110 CanOBD2 code reader.
I'm spending a bit more money than I intended but I figure that it's just taking another small bite out of our kids inheritance.....and they'd only blow it on stuff like cars and boats and food anyway.
I did check on the scanner that, in addition to pulling codes, also sends the kids to college and makes coffee...... it's too late for the "college sending" feature and instead of coffee I asked it it could make martini's. It can, but only shaken..... not stirred. That killed my interest in that scanner.
Again, thanks for the input from all you guys.
